It was that time of the month again. The time that is not awaited by any of the students of Seoul Private School. The time when an aqua colored card will be posted on a certain unlucky student’s locker. The recipient of that card has to meet the five members of SHINee, whose parents owned the school. Who knows what SHINee will do to them, but one thing’s for sure, those who have experienced it, never want to experience it again. It was a bad luck. Some students even dropped out of school, some jumped off the building and some became a loner. These SHINee boys have immunity from the school’s law. After all, the school needs funds from their parents. So anything they do is legal to the eyes of the school’s authority. They are free to do whatever they want. They don’t even have to wear the school’s uniform and having short black hair like other school boys.

16 years old Yun Hyojin arrived at school early as she always been that day and went straight to her locker to collect her text books. She was surprised to see a strange blue card was posted on her door.

SHINee? Who is SHINee? Hyojin asked herself but she didn’t get the answer. The name sounded familiar but she was not sure.

“Omo! Hyojin! You are this month’s target!” Hyojin’s friend, Fiq said with her hands clasping her mouth. “I heard the kids talking. So it’s true! Oh no!”

“Target? What do you mean?”

“You will be dead meat after you meet SHINee.”

“Huh?”

“They are the school’s bullies Hyojin! Handsome bullies though. It’s a shame they have bad attitude.”
Great. She has just checked into this school for two months and now she has became a target of the school’s most terrifying bullies.

“What becomes of the targets?”

“Some of them changed school.” Fiq said and studied the card with a frown. “This card is weird. Why does it have this pink flowery frame? This is one rare SHINee card.”

Hyojin looked at the card and tried to picture herself meeting SHINee. She could not picture it in her mind. She doesn’t know how SHINee looks like.

All her classmates and passersby were looking at her with a worried look on their faces as the bell rang, telling them it was recess. They know where her destination would be at this period. Some said “Fighting!” some nodded at her and some gave her a pitiful look. She wondered, was meeting SHINee THAT bad?

“Come in.” a voice said as Hyojin knocked three times on the wooden door. She pushed the door handle and found herself inside a really big room. Five tall figures were standing apart from each other and each pair of eyes was fixed on her. Hyojin felt goosebumps.

“Annyeong haseyo Yun Hyojin-sshi!” said the shortest boy out of all the five with a welcoming smile. He was the shortest but he was still taller than Hyojin. At the same time the rest of the boys were smiling too. Hyojin looked at each boy. Fiq was true. They are handsome.

“Err…annyeong haseyo SHINee-sshi.”

Like an explosive bomb, the boy who has pierce on his ears roared with laughter, followed by the boy with red hair but the red-haired boy laughed with his hand covering his mouth politely. A boy at the corner with a longer hair was smiling while the tallest boy was shaking his head to the boy who was speaking just now. Hyojin felt awkward being surrounded by a group of laughing people and they were laughing at her.

“You are the first person who greeted us like that.” The boy who greeted Hyojin first said after finished laughing. “Do you know who we are? Do you know who I am?”

“No.”

“I can’t believe you don’t know us.” He said, shaking his head. “I’ll introduce us anyway. I’ve never done this before either! So my name is Jonghyun, that guy who laughed the loudest just now is Key, that red-haired is Taemin, this tallest one is Minho and our leader is Onew.”

“Onu? Onyo?” Hyojin asked as she found that name weird.

“It’s On-Yu.” Taemin said with a cheerful smile.

“It’s hard to pronounce.” Hyojin said.

Jonghyun sighed. “Out of all the names, Onew hyung’s name is the hardest name for her to pronounce. How interesting.”

“You can call me Jinki.” Onew said immediately. The four boys turned to their leader with a look of disbelief.

“Seriously hyung? You are allowing her to call her your real name?” Key asked as though it was a sin for other people to be calling Onew as Jinki.

“Yes. Is there any problem with that?”

“Jinki. Ok. I can pronounce it. Jinki.” Hyojin said.

“Out of the blue, Onew hyung is allowing her to call him by his real name. This is amazing!” Jonghyun exclaimed as his friends nodded.
“So Hyojin-sshi, do you have any idea why you are our person of this month?”

“No.”

“Do you know why you are here?”

“To receive a punishment for something I didn’t do and then walk out as a person who feels ashamed of herself?”

Key burst out laughing again.

“She described it well.” Minho said as Jonghyun smirked at him.

“No, unfortunately you’re not going to get that.”

“I’m not?”

“Do you know who picked your name?”

Hyojin shook her head.

“This is the first time this person ever took part in our Aqua card activity. He was never interested in it. I was surprised he was so excited for this month’s Aqua card selection. Onew hyung picked your name.”

“Jinki sunbae?” Hyojin asked as Jinki flashed his beautiful smile at her again. Had his smile always been that beautiful? His long neck-length brown hair was shining from where he was standing. He was like an angel.

“Ne, I picked you.” Jinki said.

Hyojin was unsure if she should feel scared or not because the person who picked her name was smiling like an angel, Jonghyun was talking like he has known her forever, Key was laughing at every funny comment that she made, Taemin was smiling cutely at the corner and Minho was quiet. They seemed harmless. What was there to be scared of?

“What…why am I here again? Aren’t you going to bully me?”

“Onew hyung wants to ask you out.” Key said before Jonghyun could open his mouth.

“What?” Hyojin heard Key clearly but she could not believe her ears.

“Onew hyung is interested in you. Will you go out with him?” Minho said.

“I don’t know you…how can I…”

“Don’t worry, Onew hyung doesn’t bite. Yet. “Key said cheekily and he received a laser glance from Jinki. “Please go out with him, we are tired of listening to his confessions about you all day, ever since you entered the school.”

“Please give him a chance.” Taemin said.

Hyojin looked at Jinki who was making a hopeful face. He was too cute to be rejected and she was sure many people would bash her for rejecting a handsome guy especially when he’s a member of SHINee. But wait, people would be curious right if she’s going out with a SHINee member? How can she go out with the leader of the so-called most terrifying gang in the school?

“Please…!” Jonghyun begged as though his life depended on it.

“So this is my punishment?” Hyojin asked.

“I wouldn’t call it that. This is jackpot actually.” Key said. “Going out with a SHINee member. Wow. Not everyone can experience this, you know.”

“I’ll try it then.” Hyojin said without thinking much.

“Yeah!” the five friends cheered, as though they just won a lottery. Hyojin stole a peek at Jinki. He was smiling very cheerfully and when he saw Hyojin was looking at him, he mouthed: Gomawoyo (thank you). He even gave her a wink. That was the first time Hyojin felt her heart was beating different than normal when he saw Jinki.

Everyone could not believe it when Hyojin said she was not harmed while meeting SHINee. Well, she thought maybe her heart was damaged a little after seeing Jinki sunbae’s expensive wink. But she was not hurt. Just a little affected. Other than that she was totally fine.

“It’s SHINee!” some girls shouted as five dashing boys made their way into the cafeteria the following day. They were as handsome as ever and may I say they are shining like their name SHINee. Only Jinki and Taemin were smiling. The rest were eyeing other students like searching for their next prey. A real prey unlike this month’s prey.

“What on earth brings them to our cafeteria?” Fiq asked curiously as SHINee was walking towards the tables. SHINee usually eat at their room, where Hyojin visited yesterday.

“I’m not sure either.” Hyojin said although she sensed she has something to do with it. After all, she was the Prey of The Month.

“There you are Hyojin!” Jonghyun exclaimed as he spotted Hyojin at the far end of the cafeteria. “Hyung! She’s there!”

Hyojin knew it was too late for her to cover her face. Jinki was already on the way to the table where she was sitting with Fiq. The girls’ eyes were fixed on him as he made his way. He walked like those models on the runway walks. Fiq was not blinking when Jinki was in front of her. Hyojin stared at Jinki blankly as he stopped at their table.

“Hi Hyojin.” Jinki said sheepishly.

“Hi Jinki sunbae.”

“Let’s go eat at somewhere nice.” Jinki said and offered his hand.

“Where?”

“It’s nearby. Come.”

Hyojin took Jinki’s hand and followed him wherever he’s taking her. Along their way out, Hyojin could tell every pair of eyes was staring at her curiously.

“I died when he smiled at me.” Fiq said dreamily. “Oppa is so handsome.”

“Why are you calling him oppa? He is our sunbae!”

“Never mind that.” Fiq said, ignoring Hyojin’s dissatisfaction-ness. “Is it true that you’re going out with Onew oppa?”

“Stop calling him oppa!” Hyojin’s wondered why she was so uncomfortable listening to Fiq calling her sunbae as Oppa. Wait, Her sunbae? Oh my god, she did not own Jinki Sunbae. “Jinki sunbae and I are going out? Where did you hear that from?”

“One more thing, why are you calling him Jinki?” Fiq frowned. “Everyone’s talking about you guys already. I also find it weird. Why would a SHINee member treats you so nicely? I’ve known them long enough, they never treat anyone like they treat you. Especially Onew Oppa. I have never seen that side of him. Sure, he is always all smiles but he never go up to a particular person and asks her to eat with them like he did to you!”

“I’m their prey remember, so I had to agree with anything they come up with.”

It has been three weeks since Hyojin became Jinki’s prey and the whole school has now acknowledged about their unusual prey-predator relationship. They all know that there was something going on between them. On the other hand, Hyojin has become closer with the SHINee members. They sometimes hang out together after school. Jinki is a really funny person. He always had something funny to say when they hang out. He has a really nice voice too. Hyojin heart has melted away many times when he sings. Jinki has this voice which

can be described as chocolate voice. He sounded nice, as tasty as the chocolate.

One day, Hyojin found an envelope was slipped at the spaces between her locker’s door. It was not aqua in color, so it wasn’t from SHINee. Hyojin opened the envelope carefully and took out a piece of paper inside.

Don’t be too close with Jinki. This is a warning.

“Good morning!” a voice made Hyojin’s heart jumped and the paper she was holding slipped from her hand. She was having a double shock. One from the paper, the other from the voice who greeted her as she was concentrating on the content of the paper. Hyojin saw a brown haired guy bended down in front of her to pick up the paper as she cools her startled heart.

“Jinki op..sunbae!” Hyojin still feels awkward to call Jinki “Oppa” although she had wanted to call him that since Fiq called him Oppa and she did not like it.

“Hi Hyojin!” Jinki said as he got up. “Is this yours? Eh?”

Jinki’s smiley expression changed as he saw what was written on the paper.

“Where did you find this?” Jinki asked.

“It was on my locker. Who sent it sunbae? Do you know?”

“Very few people call me Jinki. Mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, you…”

She was amongst the few people who calls Onew as Jinki. What does this means?

“Just ignore this rubbish ok Hyojin!” Jinki assured her. “I’ll take care of it.”

Jinki was waiting outside the school gate for Hyojin. He was thinking of buying her an ice cream and wanted to walk her home. He wanted to get to know her more. But Hyojin did not show up after he has waited for 15 minutes. Jinki wondered where she went. Is she having extra class? Then he saw Hyojin’s friend, Fiq was walking alone towards the gate. Jinki approached her.

“Annyeong haseyo. You are Hyojin’s friend, right?”

Fiq stopped walking and by her expression, she was surprised to see THE ONEW talking to her.

“Annyeong haseyo. Onew oppa. I mean, Onew sunbae, yes, I’m Fiq, Hyojin’s friend. What is it sunbae?”

“Have you seen Hyojin? Has she gone home? Is she having extra class?”

“Hyojin? An ahjumma took her home. A rich looking ahjumma. I don’t know if Hyojin knows her.”

“An ahjumma? How does she looks like?”

Fiq paused to recall, then she remembered.

“You resemble her. Omo, was that ahjumma your mother?”

It was as Jinki has expected.

“Thank you Fiq!”

Hyojin was in the Lee’s family mansion, specifically in Mrs Lee’s guest room standing nervously like a criminal who was waiting for her punishment. This house was very big; it was four times bigger than Hyojin’s small house.

“So you are the girl who Jinki is crazy for.” Mrs. Lee who was sitting on her chair in front of her spoke.

“Ne?”

“How do you find this house?”

“Very big, very beautiful, very nice.”

“It’s bigger than your house, isn’t it?”

“Definitely!” Hyojin said excitedly, and then she paused. “Wait, how do you know about my house?”

Mrs. Lee smiled, and her smile was nothing like her son’s smile.

“I know more than that. I know your background, your parents, and your friends.”

“How did you…”

“No matter where I see it, you are no match for our Jinki. Jinki is the future leader for my company and he needs a partner whose background is better than you.”

Hyojin wondered if Jinki has done an investigation about her background before making her as his prey. She wanted so much to say that it wasn’t her who was chasing over Jinki! But her lips were shut tight.

“Do you understand what I’m trying to point out?”

Hyojin thought she must end it with Jinki despite having her feelings towards him developed each day. He is from a rich family, she was poor. They are not a match. Besides, his mother is against their relationship, although their relationship has not reached that level yet.

“Break up with Jinki.” Hyojin said and she felt like something was slicing her heart as she said it. It hurts. A second later, she saw a familiar figure was standing in front of her. Jinki has arrived. He was arguing with his mom but he did not raise his voice when talking. He was talking politely as usual but Hyojin could tell that he was angry by listening to his words. Seconds later, Jinki turned and grabbed Hyojin’s hand to get out of the room and away from the mansion.

“Are you okay?” Jinki asked as they were hand in hand towards nowhere in particular.

“Ne…I’m fine. Thank you opp… sunbae.”

“You can call me oppa if you like.”

“Ne, oppa.” Hyojin felt a sudden burning sensation crawled into her veins as he said that. Jinki smiled.

“I’m sorry about my mom. You know how typical rich parents are.” Jinki said. “I really don’t like it when they butt in with my love life.”

“It’s ok.”

“So where is our destination now? I’m running away from home.” Jinki said. “Should we go to your house?”

“You don’t want to go there. It’s really small. You won’t feel comfortable.”

“I want to go there! Actually I was planning on walking you home from school today! But my mom snatched that opportunity from me.”

“Are you sure? Don’t complain when you’re there.”

“I won’t. I promise” Jinki said, making that cute hopeful face again. Hyojin felt like hugging him because he was so cute but she just kept her desire to herself.

"I can't believe you're staying alone in this house." Jinki said as he and Hyojin stepped into Hyojin 's small house. “it’s dangerous.”

"This is the only treasure my parents left me after they died." Hyojin said. "this house has many memories, u know!"

"Oh.” Jinki said. “You must be having a hard time on your own.” Jinki hugged Hyojin’s shoulder. Hyojin bit her lips. Jinki oppa, stop making my heart go crazy!

“I’m fine oppa.”

“Your house is the size of my bath room."

"Oppa! Do u have to brag now?"

"Small but comfortable. I like it here."

After dinner which was Ramen, (Jinki was so excited about eating it for the first time) Jinki helped Hyojin washed the dishes in the tiny kitchen. Both of them were sleepy after the simple meal even though the clock has not struck 10 yet. Plus, it was raining heavily outside which was an ideal condition to sleep. Hyojin laid a mat across the room and put a pillow and blanket on it.

"So this is where you sleep?" Jinki asked as he rested his head on the pillow. Hyojin stopped blinking her eyes. He looks like a model who is endorsing a pillow in commercial. Just look at how he’s lying. Hyojin’s mind was going crazy. He was too perfect. "We need one more pillow."

"That’s the only pillow I have." Hyojin said.

"Seriously?"

"Yes. I've thrown away my parents pillows because i cried so much on them that they're ruined."

"I can't sleep without a pillow."

"Me too."

Hyojin and Jinki stared into each other's eyes for a while as if to decide the winner of the pillow through an eye staring competition. Hyojn was standing while Jinki was lying. Hyojin looks like she’s shooting fire from her eyes while Jinki was shooting water. Hyojin kept her eyes open as long as she could to defend her pillow and after a while, Jinki blinked his eyes. He sighed at his loss.

"Fine, lets share the pillow." Jinki said and moved his body a little to the left to make some space for Hyojin.

"Oppa! Are u serious about sleeping here? Ur mom will be angry!"

"i'm not talking to her. So its fine." Jinki said. "Why? You don’t like it if I stay? If you don't i'll leave."

With that Jinki got up from lying and was about to stand up when Hyojin suddenly jumped towards him and made him lay flat on his back again. They were in an awkward position, Hyojin was on top of Jinki and their face was 1 inch apart from each other. Hyojin swallowed her saliva nervously as she realized what she has done. She was too close to Jinki's gorgeous face. He looks more beautiful up-close. How did it turn out this way? No! This can’t be happening!

"I won't go..if that's what you're trying to say." Jinki said, with a smile that could kill Hyojin on the spot.

"Sorry oppa. I didn't mean to..." Hyojin said and with the support from her hands on the mat, she tried to lift her body but then Jinki's arms were enclosed on her waist and Jinki hugged Hyojin tighter so that Hyojin will stay on his washboard abs. Hyojin’s heart thumped louder as if it was mad. It looks like Jinki refused to let Hyojin get up from where she was.

"Why are you so red?" Jinki asked with a laugh. “It’s raining. I’m cold.” Hyojin's mind was blank already. She could not open her mouth to speak but could only stare at Jinki in this uncomfortable position. The truth is she could not even look into Jinki's eyes. They could make her heart jumps off from her body.

"You are so cute when you're blushing." Jinki said and Hyojin wondered why she's still alive.

"I love you Hyojin." Jinki said with a smile and kissed Hyojin 's cold lips without warning. His hands were hugging Hyojin even tighter like he was hugging a pillow. Hyojin was frozen. Her heart beat was chaotic. She could feel her lips being kiss gently by Jinki. But she did not do anything. She just stared at Jinki’s closed eyes and face until he released her lips.

"Do u use apple-flavored lipbalm?" she heard Jinki asked. Yes oppa, i use apple lip balm. But those words were stuck in her throat. She could only stare into the smiling eyes of Jinki, hoping that he could hear her thoughts while her mouth was not working properly, especially after being kissed.

"It’s yummy." Jinki said with a grin and kissed her again. Hyojin responded this time by kissing him back and they were hugging each other all night to sleep. Lee Jinki killed Hyojin countless time that night but she was not dead. She was killed but was still alive, if that is even possible.

Hyojin was eating with Jinki at a lavish restaurant one night when she felt nauseous. Her stomach was crazy inside and her head was dizzy.

“Are you okay Hyojin?” Jinki asked after seeing Hyojin's pale face.

“I need to go to the toilet.” Hyojin said and ran towards the toilet. She threw up all the food that she has consumed in the toilet bowl. But she still felt nauseous. Did she ate something wrong?

“You are 1 month pregnant.” Said the doctor.

Hyojin mouth fell opened and suddenly the world was spinning around her and she felt like fainting.

As Hyojin was at home thinking about what the doctor said regarding her pregnancy, there was a furious knock on the door. Weakly, Hyojin opened the door. Jinki’s mother was standing outside with a look so fierce, even the lion can not win her.

“I can’t believe you are still holding on to Jinki.”

“Mrs Lee, I...”

“Get rid of the baby. I’ll give you the money for the procedure. Get out from his life. I’ll pay for the expenses.”

“How did you...baby...?”

“If you don’t go, i will make his life miserable. I will disown him, i will take all his properties and money and he will suffer. All because of you. I know you don’t want that to happen to him, do you?”

“Mrs Lee please don’t to that to him.” Hyojin begged and hugged Jinki’s mother’s leg as she cried helplessly. “Please don’t make him suffer!”

“I want you out from his life by tomorrow. Don’t tell him anything.”

With that, Mrs Lee threw a bag she has been holding to the floor. It was not locked properly so the things inside came flying out. A lot of money.

“Buy the earliest ticket available to anywhere outside Korea. The furthest the better. Don’t try to trick me. I have eyes everywhere.”
Hyojin was at loss for words. She could only stare at the bag full of money and crying and wishing Jinki was there to help her. But they have no telephaty connections. Jinki will not come this time.

“I hope to not see you again. So long.”

The door closed with a bang as Mrs. Lee took off. Hyojin sat with her back towards the door and broke down.

Hyojin was rushing towards the departure gate the next morning. Her flight will depart in 10 minutes. Amidst all the people, Hyojin felt a hand grabbed her right hand. The grip was too strong it hurts. Hyojin was forced to stop walking and then she was whirled around by that person who grabbed her. In no time, Hyojin found herself pressed towards that person's warm but comfortable body. Hyojin wanted to break free but the more she struggle, the tighter that person wrapped his arms around her. Hyojin almost suffocated.

"Don't leave." that person said in a shaking voice.

"Jinki oppa!" Hyojin quickly recognized the voice. She was suprised he was there.

" Hyojin I'm begging you, please don't go. I can't live without you!"

"...”

"I know my mom tells you to go right? Ignore her, if you need to go, we'll go together!"

"Oppa..."

Hyojin thrusted Jinki apart a little to look at his face. The smooth-faced Jinki was looking at her. He was a messy looking, not like his usual tidy style. His bangs was covering a side of his wet face. And Hyojin saw tears trickling down his small but smiling pair of eyes. He was crying, but he still had a smiling expression on his face. But this smiling expression was a sad one, which Hyojin had never seen before. Hyojin felt tears rolled down her cheeks too as she smiled back at her sweet heart.

"Oppa, I'm not going anywhere. You win." Hyojin lied, as she gave up her plan A and swept away Jinki’s bangs so that she could see his pretty face better. "Don't cry. Where has my happy guy gone too?"

"Promise me that you will not leave then i'll smile."

"I promise." Hyojin hated herself for lying.

Jinki smiled a happier smile which Hyojin loves to see. He was so cute when he smiles like that. Hyojin reached out to wipe his tears away and then she felt a warm sensation as she touched Jinki's face."

"Oppa, are you having fever?"

"He was down with it from last night after his mother told him about you." Key said, appearing from behind Jinki. Hyojin saw Jonghyun, Taemin and Minho too.

"What? Oppa, have u taken your meds?"

"He refused to eat, let alone take meds." Jonghyun said. "I was suprised he did not touch the fried chicken last night."

"Jinki Oppa!"

"I'm having my meds now." Jinki said and tighten his arms around Hyojin with a cheeky smile on his wet face. Key coughed while the others nodded
with a funny look on their faces.

"My flight is in 5 minutes. I need to hurry." Hyojin said suddenly. The boys gasped. Hyojin was laughing inside. She was just saying that to tease Jinki and the boys. She knows she had no chance to go. Especially when Jinki shows no sign of releasing her.

" Hyojin! You said you will not go!" Jinki said and the tears which just paused came flooding back. "I'm never releasing you! I'll keep on holding onto you until your flight is gone!"

"Sorry Oppa. No, i won't go. Don't cry." Hyojin regretted her statement earlier as her heart breaks seeing Jinki crying. Now she believed what Taemin said some time ago. Jinki seems strong and cheerful from the outside, but he was fragile. Once he starts crying, it will take long before he stops. But no one's ever see him cry. This was actually the first time Jinki cried in public.

"No more joke." Jinki said firmly. Hyojin thought Jinki was behaving like a kid who is afraid if his toys will be taken away. She found it cute. Jinki doesn't act like this to everyone so that makes Hyojin felt special.

"Let’s go back home, shall we?" Minho said and glanced at his watch.

"Let’s go." Everybody agreed.

"Wait, i need to go to the toilet." Hyojin said as she pushed herself away from the resistant Jinki.

"What for?" Jinki asked, and he had a disturbed expression.

"I need to pee?"

"You can pee when we are at home later. I"m not letting you off." Jinki seems to sense Hyojin 's back up plan.

"I really can"t hold it in any longer! I'll come back after i'm done! Please?"

"No. I don't believe you." Jinki said. Hyojin felt like withdrawing her plan but Jinki's mom's threat kept replaying in her mind. She was in a dilemma.

"Poor Hyojin noona." Taemin said. "I hope she won't pee in her pants. Hyung don't you pity her?"

"Hyung, her plane has flew already. Let her go to the toilet." Minho said.

Jinki hesitated for a second then he released Hyojin. Hyojin held back her tears as she was released, as she plots her next action.

"Come back fast. I'll wait for you here." Jinki said with a weak smile.

"Ne." Hyojin was hoping Jinki would tie her to his body with a huge rope so that she could not escape.

"I love you." Jinki said. That’s it. Jinki was making it hard for Hyojin to walk away.

"For god's sake, she's only going to the toilet, hyung!" Key said.

"Go grab something to eat while i'm away. You look so pale."

"I'm fine. Go quick!"

With a last look at Jinki and the boys, Hyojin walked quickly towards the toilet which was 10 feet away from where they were standing with tears falling like heavy rain.

30 minutes has passed. There was no sign of Hyojin going out from the toilet. Jinki felt uneasy as he stood waiting faithfully. Hyojin would come out from the toilet soon. She told him she will come back.

"I'll check the toilet." Key said. "Why isnt she answering her phone? Aish this girl."

The toilet roared with girls screaming as Key went in. A split second later he was out and his expression was frantic. Jinki's fragile heart dropped as

Key announced:

"She's gone."

And his vision went dark.

As Hyojin was inside the toilet, she cried her heart out. Her heart was really against her going away but she had no choice. She had to break free from SHINee and Jinki unnoticed. She met a girl wearing a hoodie and she got an idea. The girl agreed to give Hyojin her hoodie as she pitied seeing her crying face. Hyojin thanked her and she pulled the top to cover her head as she head out 10 minutes later. She saw Jinki was still standing where she left him with the boys. Hyojin wanted so much to go back there but she can't. With her head down, she stormed away from their view and hid herself behind a wall where she can see them. She wanted to make sure the boys leave first before she goes.

20 minutes later, she saw Key went into toilet. He must be looking for her. Later, he walked out of the toilet and returned to his comrades. He spoke something with the boys and Hyojin saw everyone's shocked face. Jinki's face was the most shocked and then he collapsed and fell to the ground. Hyojin almost screamed his name when she saw that, but she restrained herself with difficulty. Jinki's friends gathered around him and Minho carried Jinki on his back. They discussed something urgently before walking off. Jinki's hand was dangling helplessly as Minho carried him. Hyojin felt like running towards them and look at Jinki but she knows she should not. She just watched them until they disappeared from her vision.

"Good bye Jinki." She said and walked off to the other direction.

5 years later. Seoul, Korea.

Lee Jinki was a CEO in one of Seoul’s top Hotel, and he was the youngest man who became a CEO at the age of 23. His life was busy, he always had meetings to attend, places to visit, clients to meet that he barely had a time for himself. His style has become more sophisticated, he always wears suits and his hair was shorter. With short hair, he looks younger than his age. He looks the same as before but for those who knows him, they know something was missing. The 100 milllion dollar smile he used to always has on his face has now gone. He doesn’t smile as much no more. He only smiles at appropriate people and times. Other times, he will wear a dull look on his face, which Taemin described as “You don’t look like Onew hyung whom i know.”

“Onew hyung!” Minho said as he entered Jinki’s office one night. Jinki glanced at Minho who is now a national Basket ball player. His body has become more muscular and he was more handsome than ever. If he were a girl, he would date Minho, Jinki thought. He brushed off that thought as Minho stood in front of his table.

“I’m busy.” Jinki said, pretending to pressed random letters on the keyboard of his laptop. He knew he should not behave like that to one of the best-est friend he ever had in the whole wide world, but seeing Minho made him remember his past. His painful past which made him becomes what he is now.

“I know you are.” Minho sounded disappointed at his unwelcomed greetings. “I thought you might want to look at this.” Minho said and put a piece
of paper on Jinki’s table. Jinki looked at the paper from the corner of his eyes.

“Anything else?”

“Make sure you look at it.” Minho said. “I hope it will bring back the old you. I miss you Onew hyung. I miss your smile.”
Jinki turned away from Minho to hide his downcast face without responding to him. Minho sighed looking at the state of his friend as if he gave up
talking to him and left the room.

As soon as the door closed behind Minho, Jinki took the paper that was left for him.

Yun Hyojin,
Room 204, 4th Floor,
North building, One Seoul Hotel,
Seoul.

Jinki rolled his eyes as he read what was on the paper. His hands trembled. They have found Hyojin! After five years! Five years of sorrow and pain! Jinki flash backed in his mind, recalling how he his life was after Hyojin disappeared in the airport. He went sick for a month, he refused to eat and he always cried when no one’s looking until there are no tears left. He no longer talks to his mother unless for business purposes. His four buddies was worried of him, that they searched for Hyojin far and wide but with no luck. He became thinner and emotionless. That was the time when you can only see a sullen look on Jinki’s face.

Jinki wanted to barge into Hyojin’s hotel door at that moment but it was 10 p.m. and he didn’t want to be rude. He will ask Key to accompany him tomorrow.

“Hyung, can’t we wait until the sun is up?” Key asked with an absent look on his face as Jinki dragged him into the hotel the next morning.

“No. I can’t wait any longer. I have waited long enough.”

“Hyung! It’s only 6:45a.m.!”

Jinki ignored Key’s nagging and pulled him into the lift to the 4th floor.

There was a swimming pool in the 4th floor. Some kids were swimming. Key found an empty chair and sat on it. Jinki sat next to him. He decided not
to go to Hyojin’s room but see her when she was out from her room.

“Don’t you want to swim?” Jinki asked Key.

“Hyung, i’m wearing a coat.” Key who now works in his father's company said.

Both were lost in their own thoughts waiting for Hyojin before Key let out a loud shriek. Jinki turned towards him.

“Did you see her?”

“No!” Key answered, to Jinki’s disappointment. “But look at that cute boy! He is so cute! He looks just like you when you were younger, Hyung!”

Jinki looked at the boy Key was mentioning about. He had small eyes, cheeky face and he looks so cute when he’s smiling. He was always smiling. His face was similar to him.

“Is he your long-lost brother Hyung?” Key asked as he excitedly got up and went towards the boy who was now in the water, playing and having fun with the other kids.

Jinki got up as well and followed Key from behind. He stared at the little boy and was wondering how can he looks so much like him when he was younger?

“Joongki! Let’s go!” a woman called for her son. Young Jinki’s look-alike turned to the direction of the voice.

“Omma!” he said excitedly and climbed on the stairs to get out of the pool. Key who was near helped Joongki to get out by pulling his hand.

“Joongki! Did i not tell you to not talk to strangers?” the woman bellowed and went quickly towards Key and released her son from Key’s grasp.

Key turned to the angry mother. Jinki looked at her too. He could not believe his eyes.

“Hyojin-sshi?” Key asked.

“Ne! How did you know my... “ Hyojin stopped talking as she saw Key’s face. Her face immediately turned white like she just saw a ghost.

“Hyojin...” Jinki spoke and he felt a tear was dropping from the corner of his eyes. Hyojin turned towards Jinki. Double suprised.

Jinki was about to walk closer towards Hyojin, he wanted so much to hug her and tell her how much he missed her but Hyojin acted faster. She grabbed Joongki’s hand, got on her feet and ran as fast as she could away from the guys before they could do anything. In a blink of an eye, she disappeared from their view.

“We lost her again.” Key said, staring at the direction Hyojin ran off. “Oh my goodness. She is a mother now?”

Hyojin has a son after they were separated for five years. It was a fact which was hard to be absorbed by his brain. Jinki’s heart shattered to pieces. How could Hyojin did this to him?

“I already checked her latest background gentlemen,” Minho said as the five friends gathered again after a long time.

“I don’t want to hear it.” Jinki said miserably. It shows in his face. He was heartbroken.

“Hyung, this is actually a great news.” Key said after peeking at the document Minho was holding. “Really good news!”

“Spill it out. I’m dying to know.” Jonghyun said.

“Well, Hyojin just came back from Japan two weeks ago. She works as an accountant there. Now she’s staying at your hotel for i don’t know how long.”

“I think she will run away to an oversea country again after we saw her just now. Maybe tonight.” Key said.

“I don’t care.” Jinki said.

“Who is her husband?” Taemin asked.

“Funny you should ask. She doesn’t has a husband. She is not married yet.”

“What?” everyone asked in an unison. Even Jinki was suprised.

“She gave birth to Joongki 8 months after she went to Japan.”

“Hyung, did you do something funny with her one month before she went?” Jonghyun asked with a sly face. Everyone gasped.
Jinki tried to recall. Then his cheeks turned red as he nodded shyly.

“Oh my god, hyung!” Jonghyun exclaimed, he looked at Jinki as he could not believe his eyes.

“What did hyung do?” Taemin asked blankly.

“No wonder that boy looks EXACTLY like Onew hyung when he was younger!” Key clapped his hands as though everything makes sense suddenly.

“He is your son hyung!”
“Hyung has a son?” Taemin was still clueless. But no one was paying attention to him. They were all excited.
“Let’s wait at the airport tonight. I’m sure she will go there.” Key suggested.
“I’m not going to let her go now.” Jinki said with fire in his eyes.

Jinki oppa had saw her. She must make herself disappear from his sight as soon as possible. Even though their meeting was short, Hyojin could see how Jinki has changed. He was thinner and his face was sad and tired looking. She shook of the desire to be in his arms and let out all the feelings she had been keeping inside as she remembered Jinki’s mother’s warning. She never forgets her threats. And she was actually happy seeing Jinki happy. He was wearing expensive oufits. He must be doing well.

Hyojin and her son were in the airport and has just received their ticket to Australia from the counter. Their plane will will be departing in 10 minutes time. Hyojin hurried towards the Departure hall.

“Omma, i want chicken!” Joongki said, releasing his mother’s hand and ran towards a stall which sells chicken.

“Joongki! Come back!” Hyojin yelled and ran towards her son desperately.

At first, she can’t find him. There were too many people. When she saw him, he was taking a chicken from someone. Hyojin wanted to save her son but then a person appeared in front of her and she was in his arms.

“Who are you?” Hyojin shouted as she struggled to free herself. “Let me go!”

“Joongki is with Key and the boys, Hyojin.” Said the figure and Hyojin realised he was Jinki. “He’ll be fine.”

“Jinki oppa! What are you doing here?”

“I’m going to prevent you from running away again. And i’m never going to fall for your trap again. If you need to pee, you will have to pee in your pants.”

Hyojin was speechless.

“You don’t know how much pain you’ve caused me in the past five years. I was dying.” Jinki continued.

“Please don’t go away anymore. He needs you.” Minho pleaded as the rest of the SHINee members gathered with them.

“This boy needs a father too.” Jonghyun said, rubbing Joongki’s head. “His real father.”

“We have never seen his smile after you went. He becomes a moody, boring person.” Key said jokingly and received a light smack on the shoulder by Minho.

“I don’t like moody person. I like happy smiley person.” Hyojin said.

“Promise me that you’ll never leave, then i’ll smile.” Jinki said. Hyojin still remembered that sentence. Jinki used to say it to her five years ago at this very airport.

“I’m not interested to make such promise.” Hyojin said and tried to release herself from Jinki. Jinki looked disappointed but he still kept Hyojin in his arms.

“Ok then. How about this?” Jinki said. “Will you marry me? Say yes and i’ll kiss you, say no and i’ll kiss you anyway. It’s your choice.”

“What?” Hyojin asked. Jinki was giving her a dead-end option.

“I’ll take that as a yes.” Jinki said and flashed his first 100 million dollar smile in five years before embracing Hyojin to plant a kiss on her lips. Minho closed Joongki’s eyes with his hand. Hyojin’s was feeling the sensation she used to have on their first kiss. Everything seems to fall back into place and she felt she was back to where she belongs. In Jinki’s arms. She doesn’t want to go anywhere anymore.

“You still use apple flavored lip balm?” Jinki asked as their lips were parted.

Hyojin nodded.

“I still like it.” Jinki said and gave Hyojin’s lips a second round of kiss.
